HTML, the language used for structuring and presenting content on the Web, has evolved since its inception. Its current version, HTML5, offers new elements that reflect typical usage on modern websites. Recently, two somewhat contradictory announcements about HTML5 were published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG), who have both been involved in its development.
