Windows Systems Administrator
Location: Burnaby, BC
Summary of Position:
Administer and maintain all Windows server platforms and plan for migrations, updates and improvements to the Windows environment. The Windows Systems Administrator is also responsible for providing Windows Server Admin. support for clients and internal staff.
Administration
- Design, implement, and administer ongoing security practices for different windows platforms
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technical and industry advancements
- Administer and maintain server operating systems and applications including installation, configuration, patching, upgrading, performance monitoring and tuning, and documentation.
- Participate in reviewing, designing, recommending and implementing hardware and software solutions to support customers’ and company’s IT requirements.
- Provide pre-sales support
- Keep client and system records and documentation up to date
- Keep track of various in-house and client inventory
Support
- Provide advanced technical support via telephone, email, ticketing system and online chat
- Provide documentation and tracking of support inquiries via ticketing system
- Escalate and follow up on unsolved support inquiries/issues
- Coordinate and work with third-party vendors to resolve technical issues
- Provide guidance, mentorship and assistance to internal staff in the resolution of technical issues
Other Duties
- Participate in suggesting, evaluating, reviewing and executing the implementation of new technical solutions based on best practices and company’s business objectives
- Stress-test new services, software and hardware
- Update and maintain the Network Topology Map
- Provide weekly written reports to immediate supervisor
- Other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- 3+ years of working experience and knowledge of Microsoft Windows server (2003/2008)
- 3+ years of working experience and knowledge of Active Directory (2003/2008)
- Excellent English verbal, written and inter-personal skills
- Excellent problem solving skills & conflict resolution skills
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Working knowledge of IP networking and infrastructure
- Working knowledge of computer and network security practices
- Working knowledge of VMware
- Working knowledge of IT related standards, protocols, practices and applications
- Ability to work independently & collaboratively in a fast paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and schedules
- Working experience and knowledge of Unix Servers is a plus

- An annual salary range of $43,000- $65,000 based on experience
