Position:

The PR and Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for proactively communicating with the public through press releases, blog posts and relevant social media platforms (including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Flickr, and Youtube).

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to represent SmarttNet and our clients in such a way as to build reputation and promote awareness within our target markets.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Well honed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience writing and distributing press releases (knowledge of online distribution models is preferred).
  • Deep understanding of a variety of social media platforms, as well as experience leveraging these platforms to achieve business goals.
  • Must be comfortable representing SmarttNet and our clients across a variety of channels.
  • Web savvy and endlessly curious.
  • Ability to see patterns and pull insight from raw analytical data.
  • Experience with WordPress is an asset.
  • HTML and CSS experience is an asset.
  • Familiarity with software like Photoshop, Fireworks and Illustrator is an asset.
  • Graphic design experience is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

Daily Tasks Include But Are Not Limited to the Following

  • Monitoring Twitter streams for relevant news, brand mentions and competitor activity.
  • Maintaining company social media accounts and managing fans and followers.
  • Writing press releases and blog posts for internal and client use.
  • Actively seeking press opportunities and responding to journalists’ requests for sources.
  • Editing blog posts and Web copy for colleagues.
  • Publishing content across channels.
  • Gathering daily news from Mashable.com to be presented to the team in a weekly meeting.
  • Preparing competitive intelligence reports for clients.
  • Evaluating potentially useful tools and software as they are released.
  • Consulting with clients and coaching them on social media best practices.
  • Building social media and traditional publicity campaigns for company and clients.
  • Communicating project progress and problems with project managers and customers
  • Bringing new Internet Marketing ideas to team and department
